Was passiert, wenn Afrika schneller wächst als Europa? | Ganze Doku

"Afrika – Power-Kontinent im Aufbruch" is a 45-minute science documentary by John A. Kantara, produced for 3sat's "WissenHoch2" strand and first broadcast on 19 September 2024. The film reframes the conversation about Africa away from deficit narratives of poverty and conflict and towards the continent's scientific, technological and entrepreneurial momentum. Kantara travels across Kenya, Uganda, Ghana and Nigeria to meet researchers and founders including Kenyan microbiologist and programmer Jack Oyugi, whose work on alternative animal feed is lowering costs for smallholder farmers, and entrepreneurs in Kampala electrifying Boda-Boda motorcycle transport. The documentary covers Africa's leadership in renewable energy, the deployment of AI in West African healthcare and floating-city architecture responding to rising sea levels. With eleven of the twenty fastest-growing economies worldwide located on the continent and the youngest population on the planet, the film presents Africa as a laboratory for solutions to climate, energy and food-system challenges shared by the rest of the world.
